Adsorbents used in the Oleflex process
The Oleflex process is used for the dehydrogenation of iso-butane
to isobutylene and propane to propylene. UOP is the leading licensor
of propane dehydrogenation technology worldwide. On a global basis,
our Oleflex process facilitates the production of more than two billion
pounds of propylene per year.
We offer a full range of specialty adsorbents for dehydration as well as for
the purification of the feed to these units. Because the highly reactive olefins
produced in the reactor effluent stream contain trace levels of HCl as well
as H2S, these contaminants must be removed to avoid corrosion and fouling in
downstream equipment. Count on UOP specialty alumina products to effectively
remove such contaminants.
UOP can also provide you with advanced non-regenerative adsorbents to remove
the trace HCl. You can then follow up with a thermal swing adsorption system
that employs our third-generation promoted alumina products for dehydration.
For further purification, look to our H2S removal (Reactor Effluent Dryers
- RED) adsorbents to provide effective removal of these deleterious species
in the Oleflex process.
The C4 Oleflex process can serve as an integral part of your etherification
complex. In such a configuration, you can treat the C4 raffinate stream for
removal of oxygenates by employing the UOP Oxygenate Removal process. When
the raffinate stream provides the olefin feed to an HF alkylation process,
the UOP Oxygenate Removal unit is designed to supply <1ppm oxygenates in
the feed to the HF alkylation unit.
