Benzene and Toluene
Benzene and toluene, the simplest aromatic hydrocarbons, are generally
recovered from reformate or pyrolysis gasoline by liquid-liquid extraction.
The Sulfolane process is the world's leading aromatics extraction
technology, with more than 130 units in operation.
In addition, UOP also offers
the ED Sulfolane process which is a simplified, low capital investment
version of the Sulfolane process and the Carom process which is used for revamps of older Udex and Tetra units to increase
capacity and/or reduce costs of production.
