Meta-xylene
UOP can provide you with proven solutions for meta-xylene recovery.
Meta-xylene is used in the production of purified isophthalic acid
(PIA), which is, in turn, used as an intermediate in the production
of polyester resins. The most rapidly growing application for
PIA is in PET (polyethylene terephthalate) resin bottles.
The MX Sorbex process is one of UOP's most advanced Sorbex process
applications. In the MX Sorbex process, meta-xylene is recovered
via adsorptive separation from a mixture of C8 aromatic isomers including
ethylbenzene, para-xylene, meta-xylene and ortho-xylene. UOP can also
provide you with a highly selective MX Sorbex adsorbent for efficient
separation of meta-xylene.
