UOP Olefins and Equipment History
UOP has been a leader in supplying technology and products to the
chemical industry for more than 60 years, and continues to lead the
market with new innovations and improvements in process technology,
products and equipment.
The Oleflex process was first commercialized in 1990 and is currently used
in 75% of the propane dehydrogenation plants operating in the world. More than
75% of the ethylene producers in the world use UOP molecular sieve desiccants.
MD trays and High Flux tubing have been installed in more than 2,000 plants.
In addition, UOP hydrogen purification systems (either PSA or membrane) and
acid gas removal processes are widely used in the olefins industry.
Recent UOP process technology introductions include UOP’s DeH-14 catalyst
for propane dehydrogenation, the UOP/HYDRO MTO process, the MaxEne process,
and the ATOFINA/UOP Olefin Cracking process.
Recent UOP equipment introductions include ECMD and EEMD trays.
