New Materials
UOP is constantly adding to its successful history of materials innovation
by conducting research in the areas of molecular sieves and other high
surface area metal oxides. These materials form the basis of most of
UOP’s extensive portfolio of catalysts and adsorbents.
Building on such landmark inventions as the first commercialized synthetic
zeolites and the first non-silica based molecular sieves, UOP has recently
introduced the first members of a new family of UZM zeolites. One member of

this new family, UZM-5 zeolite, possesses a unique new framework structure
that offers great potential for new applications.
In addition to new materials discovery, UOP has invested significantly in developing
novel synthesis and modification technologies to both optimize the performance
of new materials and enable the sustainable development of materials manufacturing.
