UOP Sponsors 'Platinum' on World's Largest Periodic Table of Elements
Chicago's Daley Center windows to display 8' x 8' 'elements' spanning eight stories
UOP is taking Platinum to new heights! During the week of September 22 through the 29, the world's
largest periodic table of elements will be displayed in downtown Chicago's Daley Center building.
Sponsored by the American Chemical Society, the first ever Chicago Science Expedition is a dynamic
collaboration of business, civic, cultural and community organizations. The planned events include
a series of lectures and informal meetings to reinforce the importance of science in the community
and around the world.
Each of the table's elements is being sponsored by organizations in all areas of science. Because
the 8' x 8' windows across the face of the Daley Center building can accommodate all the squares
on a periodic table, it was obvious to a science organization like the ACS
what needed to be done: turn it into a giant periodic table of elements. The elements will take up
eight floors of the Daley Center's windows.
Sponsoring companies, along with UOP, will have brief entries in a Chicago Sun-Times supplement
detailing the importance of each element, highlighted by its specific sponsor. This activity
dovetails into Honeywell's focus on math and science education. As of December 1, 2005, UOP became
a wholly owned subsidiary of Honeywell.
