As oil resources are developed offshore, associated natural gas can no longer being disposed of as an afterthought.

These valuable hydrocarbons are being processed to either bring to shore via pipeline, re-inject into oil reservoirs for pressure maintenance, or monetize via liquefaction on a Floating LNG plant. UOP can show you the processing routes of choice to maximize your profits.

Efficient acid gas removal with reduced footprint and weight

Lightweight, compact membrane solutions

UOP Separex™ Membrane solutions are used for acid gas and water removal from natural gas streams. Our systems are modular units containing spiral wound membrane elements. Separex membrane solutions can be utilized for a wide range of natural gas treating applications, but are especially ideal for offshore gas processing because they are:

  • Light weight
  • Compact
  • Require little energy input
  • Have few (or no) moving parts
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Easily meet pipeline specifications
  • Lower the cost of acid gas removal and disposal.

UOP’s latest innovation, the Separex Multi-Tube Membrane is a novel compact membrane system design that simplifies process stream connections and significantly increases membrane packing density.  The Multi-tube offers a 50% footprint reduction in most applications, making it even more attractive for offshore projects.

Reliable bulk, selective or trace acid gas removal

The UOP Amine Guard™ FS process combines Dow® high performance UCARSOL™ family of solvents with UOP’s reliable Amine Guard system process technology for either bulk, selective or trace acid gas removal.

Introduced over 20 years ago and operating in many commercial units today, the Amine Guard FS Process can be tailored for offshore applications.  UOP offers a process guarantee with Amine Guard process systems, giving our customers an added level of confidence in the challenging environment of offshore amine treating.

Advanced Mercury Removal

Our proven UOP GB adsorbents allow you to remove trace amounts of sulfur or mercury. These high-loading metal oxide adsorbents provide reliable protection for downstream equipment and consistently meet pipeline gas specifications with no moving parts and no operator intervention.

Regenerable and non-regenerable options for efficient mercury removal

Mercury Removal

UOP offers regenerable molecular sieve adsorbents and non-regenerable metal oxide
adsorbents to remove mercury from natural gas, LPG and other light hydrocarbon streams.

Our HgSIV™ adsorbents are silver loaded molecular sieves specifically formulated to remove mercury. The adsorbent can be loaded into an existing molecular sieve dehydration unit to simultaneously remove mercury, water and other impurities. HgSIV adsorbents are regenerated with a clean gas stream.

UOP GB adsorbents can be used for final removal of mercury from the regeneration gas of a dehydrator using HgSIV.  This has the advantage of using a smaller vessel while treating a more concentrated mercury stream.

Alternately, UOP GB adsorbents can be located upstream of all other gas treating processes to permanently remove mercury and prevent contamination of downstream process piping and equipment.

UOP is your single-source supplier for guaranteed mercury removal.  We offer a product sale into your dehydration system or full equipment packages for use with our non-regenerated adsorbents.
