C5/C6 Isomerization Process
If you’re looking for a proven approach to light naphtha isomerization,
take a closer look at UOP’s Penex and Par-Isom processes.
The Penex process for light naphtha isomerization is currently operating in more than 120 units
worldwide. The process has a wide range of recycle configurations for optimum design flexibility and
feedstock processing capabilities.
The Par-Isom process is an innovative application of a non-chlorided-alumina catalyst for light
paraffin isomerization. The process uses PI-242™ catalyst, which approaches the activity of chlorided-alumina catalysts without the need for organic chloride injection. The catalyst is
regenerable and water tolerant.
Today, more and more refineries are employing UOP isomerization technologies because light naphtha isomerate is such an excellent gasoline-blending component, thanks to its high octane, low sulfur,
low olefin and low benzene properties.
UOP’s BenSat process, operating in combination with a Penex process unit or as a stand-alone unit,
can help you meet the benzene limit requirements of your blended gasoline.
