Oxygenates

Over the past decade, refiners worldwide have increased their use of oxygenates as gasoline blending components. Not only do oxygenates have the ability to burn cleaner in internal combustion engines, but refiners are free to choose from many different oxygenates to create these final blends.

UOP can provide you with the technology to produce many of these oxygenates from low-value light olefins available within your refineries. Commonly used oxygenates include ethanol and various ethers such as MTBE, ETBE, TAME and DIPE.   UOP's unique Ethermax technology utilizes a proprietary reaction with distillation technology to convert such oxygenates into blendable components.   UOP also offers the Oxypro process for refiners who find the economics of adding DIPE favorable.

Count on UOP experts to help you determine which oxygenate is best for your unique applications.
